Sustainable Development Goal 9 (SDG 9) focuses on building resilient infrastructure, promoting inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and fostering innovation. India has been working hard to achieve this goal through many government initiatives, as highlighted in the SDG India Index by NITI Aayog. These efforts are shaping the future of our country and ensuring progress for everyone.

1. Digital India

The Digital India program is transforming the nation into a digitally connected society. It ensures that technology reaches every corner of the country, helping industries modernize and enabling innovation in everyday life.

2. PM GatiShakti

The PM GatiShakti National Master Plan aims to connect different transportation systems like railways, highways, and waterways. This makes transporting goods faster and cheaper, helping industries grow and making things more affordable for us.

3. Industrial Corridor Development Programme

This program is about creating industrial hubs with modern facilities, where factories and industries can work efficiently. These hubs also create jobs and bring in investments from around the world.

4. National Logistics Policy (NLP)

The National Logistics Policy is making it easier to move goods within India. With better warehouses, transportation, and delivery systems, industries can work faster and at lower costs.

5. North East Industrial Development Scheme (NEIDS)

Through NEIDS, industries in the northeastern states of India get special support. This helps create jobs and development in areas that need more attention.

6. Udyami Bharat Scheme

This scheme supports small and medium businesses, helping people start their own ventures. It provides financial aid and training to entrepreneurs, encouraging them to contribute to the economy.

7. Bharatmala Project

The Bharatmala Project is about building highways and expressways to connect different parts of India. Better roads mean better business opportunities for industries in far-off places.

8. PM MITRA

The Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) initiative is setting up textile parks where the entire process of making clothes happens in one place. This helps the textile industry grow and creates a lot of jobs.

9. Border Area Development Programme (BADP)

The Border Area Development Programme focuses on building infrastructure in areas near India's borders. This not only improves the lives of people living there but also strengthens the country’s overall development.

10. Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)

The PMGSY ensures that rural areas are connected by good roads. This helps villagers access markets, schools, and healthcare, making life better for them and supporting rural businesses.

11. Make in India and Startup India

Both programs are encouraging people to manufacture goods in India and start new businesses. They are helping India become self-reliant and innovative by supporting local entrepreneurs and industries.

12. Ease of Doing Business Initiatives

These initiatives reduce unnecessary rules and make it easier for companies to start and operate businesses. This attracts investments from other countries, helping India grow.

My Observations

As an SDG Reporter, I feel these initiatives are a great way to shape the future of India. Programs like Digital India and Make in India show how technology and innovation are being prioritized. However, I also believe that while these programs are amazing, more awareness needs to be created among students and young people about how we can contribute to these efforts.

For example, under PM GatiShakti, we can see how better connectivity boosts local industries. When industries grow, they create jobs for people in our communities. Similarly, programs like Udyami Bharat are inspiring because they encourage small businesses, and maybe one day, young students like us could be part of these programs by starting our ventures.

India’s journey to achieving SDG 9 is inspiring and motivating. These programs are not just about development; they are about building a better future for everyone, especially for us, the youth. Together, as students and citizens, we can support these efforts and make a difference.
